Good day everyone, just a quick new topic,in case some of you are familiar with this. So,each day I drive to work passing by walls on the side of the mountain, and about 4 months ago I remember there was a nice sound that the by-pass valve was making while changing gears(sound hitting against the walls and coming back to my ears...).However in the last month or so I'm missing that completely.I cannot say if there is a difference in power also, usually I don't have any chance to kick the pedal down.
Any of you familiar with this?Been hearing this as well?Cleaned by any chance the BPV?
Thanks

Hi, I doubt if the valve would need cleaning unless you've done alot of miles and I can't say I've ever heard mine even with the remap. Are you actually sure it is the vlave that was making the noise?

I noticed the same noise when I got mine last year, can only hear it when the window is open, and changing gear.
Sounds like a very quiet dump valve, lol.
Haven't heard it lately, mainly due to not having the windows open for months as it's bloody freezing, lol.

I think the symposer makes more like a throaty sound, and specially at high revs, not during gear shifting. The sound I heard was whooshing while shifting gears, exactly like a BOV,unusual, cause there is no atmospheric discharge.Anyway,I'll give it a look,it has 3 M6 screws from what I can tell.

Hi, the symposer just a device like a sound box that produces a noise into the passenger compartment. If the noise you had has now stopped but the car drives no different then it must have been some other adnormality. Did you read this part of the article: "With turbocharged engines, the turbo is an integral part of the intake system and it masks the sound of induction because the whoosh noise becomes dominant when the turbo is spinning at speed."We needed to recapture or recreate that exciting induction noise so what we've done with our sound symposer is capture engine oscillations in the intake system downstream from the turbo and then direct them straight into the cabin for a good sporty growl."

Ok,coming back for an update after many km, now at 107000 km, and the by-pass valve started making noise, louder and louder whooshing noise and kinda flop flop during gear change . I dismantled it this morning to check it, saw some other owners had some issues with torn membrane and so on. Found everything perfect with the exception of vacuum line being clogged with oil. Cleaned everything, put back together, checked the vacuum line from the upper side of engine, seems ok. Still have the loud whoosh and flop flop when engine goes from high rpm to low. Keeping it at high rpm seems ok, no noise,I can hear the turbine spinning as it always did. Any experience with this? Any thoughts? Thank you.
