As with a lot of later Ford models the rear badge on my mk4 estate is horrible and scabby so I've bought a new one from Fords but I'd like to know if its a hard job removing the sticky backing foam please.

The Ford oval badge replacement scheme is still running although the Ford dealer that i'd booked it in with had never heard of it and I had to explain all about it. Needless to say I've printed off the service bulletin to take with me just in-case. I've also mentioned that the TDCi badge is rubbish too, he reckons about £15 to replace it...we'll wait and see :)

I will second that about tcdi badges, they seem to fade out
completely, would a few coats of laquer before fitting stop it happening a second time or what?
Not sure if lacquer would help tbh as I guess the red on the TDCi badge isn't lightfast so the sun's UV rays just bleaches it like red always does. So unless they've sorted out the new badges it'll happen again in few years?

My centre caps on my alloys have also gone too :(

There you go, had a right ding dong with the dealership (Fishers of Wigston, Leicester). I arrived early for my appointment only to be told that they hadn't got the badges, someone had ordered them for a mk5 instead of a mk4, so I had to arrange to come back in a couple of hours when the correct badges would be there.

I returned at the agreed time, walked in and was greeted by the lady asking what price I'd been quoted, as she asked, a guy from the back and older guy in a shirt and tie entered, I replied saying I'd not been quoted a price because it was part of the badge replacement scheme that I'd already mentioned in conversation and it was free....oh no it's not I was told, that's for 5 year old cars. Great, let me get my paperwork from the car I said. I showed them the email that I'd sent and asked them the question if they were still operating the scheme for cars under 120 months, their managing director responded to the email saying yes, please call the service dept to arrange a time slot. I showed them a copy of the service bulletin stating 120 months. I also said that Ford were continuing the replacement scheme until further notice and the expiry date on the bulletin was dec 2014 but to ignore this.

I was first told its was for only 3 years, then 5 years and then oh, 10 years. We ended up having an argument as they were not going to fit them because of their own inefficiency in communication between, Ford, the warranty manager and the service department. I, at this point asked them what I'd done wrong? Why was I being treated like a criminal, why was I under scrutiny? It was them that couldn't get their facts straight. Part of the reason for this badge replacement scheme was to build relationships between possible customer and to get people in the showroom.

By the way I was treated, three things are for sure, I'll never go back there again, never recommend them and I'll always go fully prepared knowing full well they will have no idea what I'm talking about.

The badges were fitted and they look great but sadly I was so angry the time I'd left it took the shine off it all. ????
