Gave it a wash and polished and waxed the bonnet - too much car to polish it all at once!
Same here, wash it and polish a different part to the previous time...not today though.

Loaded my tools in to the boot and went round my mums to do a bit of DIY. As above, the MK4 boot is huge...no need to put tool boxes on the back seats any more (as I did with my MK2)

I gave it a good clean and polish and found 2 more stone chips on the bonnet and little ding on the door (must be supermarket or shops!! I'm scared to clean it as I always seem to find another one :dang: .. I guess one downside to the width of the car is filling the small parking bays!

Slightly cheating, as I did it Saturday and only just saw this thread.

Changed front discs and pads.

Thought it was going g to take a hour and a half, tops but it ended up being a seven hour job. The dis s on the car were the originals, and we're shiny, grooved and pitted. They were also mega rusty... No problem though... So I thought.

Started off by putting the car up o a set of Jack stands and chocking the back wheels. Then realised that the slide pins are a 7mm Allen... Which I don't have. Wheels back on, car down and off to Halfords. 3 quid for a bloody 7mm Allen driver (3/8" drive).

On with the shit show. Back upon stands wheel off each side, started on passenger side first. Caliper slide pi s unscrewed nice but carrier bolts were super tight. Cracked them loose and took the carrier off then started removing the two small washers that hold the disc on. Grabbed my hammer and gave a gentle tap or 10 on the hat inbetween the studs. No way it was shifting. To cut a long story short, it took 3 hours, 2 cans of shock and unlock and a 10lb sledge hammer plus crow bar to get it off. Ended up shattering the outer disc off the hat, then levering the hat off the hub. The disc was so corroded it was unreal. Would have used the two bolt method but had no suitable bolts.

Driver side was the same, except some moron had rounded off the upper slide pin Allen hole. Freaking great! It was also sized solid into the calliper and not come g out with mole grips. It took a little creativity to reassemble the caliper with one pin still screwed into the caliper but I managed it. After reapplying copper grease to the pads several times because I kept touching them by accident, finally got it back together.

Brakes are working great. Will be either using some propane or getting g a new caliper to sort that drivers side pin not coming out next time I do a pad change.

Done a couple of things today.

I started by straightening the pinch welds under the car where people had used the wrong spots to jack, or used a trolley jack there. Just used mole grips and bent them back in line. I then wire brushed them, scraping any loose paint away, sanded the surface rust off and painted them with smooth silver hammerite. U was going to prime them with zinc gala but really could not be arsed masking off (zinc galva is a spray).

When that was dry I gave it a "quickie" wash. 2 buckets as usual but no Rinse off Wax. It's almost summer so I'll be stopping g using that soon anyway.

Don't know if I mentioned it already but I tried car plan liquid gold shampoo again. First time I used it I tested it's claim. It brags about how there's no need to dry the car and that water just falls off... Then it still went and left dirty great water marks. Guess nothing g can over power hard water :) I dried it this time with my new drying towel, 4 quid from Asda and a bargain. Has a fluffy side and a short pile side and it is excellent quality for the price.

No pictures, the burning orb in the sky has gone to bed for the night. :)

Anyone else do owt? Please share if you did. Don't have to be what you did to the car, could be what you did that the car got you to.

Not sure bud. Is Kent a brand name? This was an Asda own brand one

Really good quality too. The piping at the edges was very cleverly put on. The microfibre stuck up above it so when you folded it if you staggered it instead of having piping laying on piping it would not touch the paint, just the microfibre would. The label was perforated too so it to reboot without pulling any stitching out. Little details... I like it.

I think I'm obsessed with cleaning my car. I've just gone out for a smoke and ended up using some wipes to clean every spot of plastic on the interior then wiped with a clean microfibre to stop streaks. :) hoover time tomorrow, hope it's sunny again... It was beautiful today, 16 degrees and a real uplifting dose of sun.

I put my new gel badges on and gave the interior a really shiny clean-See other thread really pleased with the finish and quality of them they look as good as the original badges. I hope Ford don't mind them on when it goes in for a quick service as they are withdrawing them soon!

First time since having the car I have had a lot of free time to really mess about with all the internal functions mainly the USB, voice and DAB properly up to now I have done the usual man thing and not read all the instructions/manual so spent ages reading the manual for the Voice functions and uploading loads of MP3s and testing it all out, I won't keep a cd in the car again now. DAB radio is great and voice control is great when stationery but found when out for a run and the pressure is on to say something 'mind blank comes in lol' so I still quickly use all the buttons on the wheel so much quicker as I can't remember all the correct sayings!! and by the time I press the stalk and go through the menus it takes longer so that will be a work in progress but found the one 'TRACK' is the quickest as if you are on an album with 22 songs if you press forward it often takes you to the next album or folder so without pressing 20 times for track 2 this is fastest way unless anyone else has any quick tips on the use of the USB/Voice I'm finding it better than most cars I have had and no dropped calls on the phone so all good :)
