Windscreen washer pump plumbing

I had a failed pump and replaced it. I took the undercover off and managed to gently lever the pump out and remove the electrical and pipe connections without any drama. All is well, I thought. Not quite. There are leaks at the pipe connections.

The front and rear washer pipes at the pump connect onto the pump via plastic inserts in the pipes and unless I've lost an 'O' ring or similar then they won't seat properly without leaking. They've likely never been replaced in 10 years (54 plate Tdci). I can't find new inserts anywhere or any mention of them.

Some questions for the wise:

1. Are they prone to leaking once budged?

2. Where can I get new inserts?

3. Is is best to cut the pipes just above the inserts and pull them over the pump outlets? There's not a lot of pipe to play with. What about an in-line connector to the old pipe with some new pipe to the pump?

Thanks.

You need to take the original hard inserts out of the pipe and then fit the pipe

directly to the new pump.

If you can a couple of small cables ties will prevent them blowing off. But not

essential.

Purple_2L-LX thanks very much for your response. The access is a complete pain but I managed to pull out the inserts and get the pipe over the new pump outlets with some cable ties for the extra security of not wanting to do it again. I've made do for ages without the washer pump, knowing that it was pain to get to, and it's luxury to use the wash-wipe again. Fantastic.
