So i have just bought a 2007 titanium x knowing that the sensors are not working. what is the best way of testing for the root cause?

I will be getting a single new sensor. is it just a case of removing the bumpers and switching out each sensor until i find the faulty one?

OBD2 adapter (£5 of Amazon) and a copy of Forscan on a laptop should tell you which sensor is dodgy if it's a factory fitted system. You might need a slightly more expensive adapter if the parking sensor module is on the MS-CAN bus in which case get an adapter with a HS-CAN and MS-CAN switch.

Cheers, just bought the one from the link, figured id rather spend less time switching out various sensors. Plus SWIMBO has a focus so it will get some use.

on that note, is there a guide somewhere on how to use it to detect parking sensor faults?

Forscan is really simple to use, just plug it in and fire it up and it'll walk you through detecting the modules and display any faults.

I had a mobile auto spark out fixing my wife's Megane, my mechanic who works by himself was heading off on holiday. Spark fitted a new door lock mechanism for me. I then mentioned to him about my parking sensors of my Mk 4 not working. He connected his tablet and told me after a few mins that me front sensor to the left of my number plate was faulty. He even showed me how to pop it out, £11.99 off eBay and a couple of days later I have them working. Auto spark didn't want anything for doing it, but thankfully I had and extra £10'in my wallet which I gave him. Plus the fact of which one it was meant it didn't need colour coding!!!

Well, I have replaced the two dodgy looking sensors but still not working. do I need to disconnect the battery and reconnect?

What else could it be?

And finally my dad has a range rover that has identical sensors (aside from JLR branding instead of ford) are these compatible?

Disconnect & reconnect is worth a shot. And yes they're probably compatible. Land Rover and Ford seem to use a lot of identical parts but different branding/part numbers. I have a land rover microphone for my bluetooth.

Cheers, I'll disconnect and reconnect it tonight and see.
