Good evening Ladies and Gents!
I'm new to this forum so thought i'd introduce myself before getting on to the shop talk! My names Josh and am more than happy to be called that. Im only 20 and a couple of weeks ago bought a 2.0l TDCi Mondeo Mk3! Love the motor so far so all is good! Anyhow...
On the way back from work on friday i noticed black smoke (not a great deal but enough to notice) When accelerating. After having a ganders among a forum i came across a post which said that disconnect the the EGR valve electrical bit (I think its only on the Euro 4 they have this) It pretty much acts as a blanking plate therefore leaving the EGR in active and leaving the valve closed. The Black smoke has since completely gone and I'm actually noticing a increase in mpg by 3-4 mpg. The EML has come on which i was expecting but I'm not overly bothered about but i will be sure to check that its not thrown up any other codes. Should the black smoke have been anything to worry about in the first place? And is it better to get a blanking plate instead of simply unplugging it?
Sorry for the longish post! Enjoy your evening!
