Hi, I've bought a new(not new but second hand) power steering pump and taken the old one half way off, it's been whining and leaking for ages but just got round to doing it, got to the last bolt which was the metal pipe that goes in to the top of the power steering pump and I cannot loosen than for love nor money, I read somewhere it's tack welded and somewhere it's not, the used pump I've bought has got a nice clean thread for the pipe to screw in to so they must've removed it ok any ideas?
Unless the metals fused somehow from the pump overheating because it's been busted for a while and I've been driving like it??
Any ideas would be hugely appreciated, spent 2 hours removing and trying to undo this bolt today many thanks
If anyone has removed a power steering pump on a mondeo pleassseee reply, really can't find any more info on this, plus when it was half out I opened the pump case cos I could see the gasket was knackered so I need to get a new gasket too for the second hand pump I bought, Is that something fords will sell?
But mainly this bloody bolt thing, there must be a way
Just an update, I got a garage to undo the big bottom bolt (union) so I'm going to screw that directly back in to the new pump, I didn't think that bolt moved but it does, fingers crossed that's sorted now, thanks for the help
Yep that worked good as gold, so for anyone that may struggle, just undo the bigger bolt at the bottom of the 2 bolts
