hi i have a 2005 mondeo mk3 i have got the p0251 fault code i get a glow plug light come on and sometimes cuts out,

does anyone know if this is likely to be the injectors at fault, because i have spoke to some garages about it and one said its the injectors because there known for it and another garage told me to scrap it because he said its probably the pump breaking up and breaking the injectors but i think there the original injectors and its on 120k does anyone have any ideas ?

Change the fuel filter for a Bosch or Delphi one lately? Try that first and cross

your fingers.

Unless the garage have done proper tests ignore their warnings of doom.

A member on here had similar tales of doom but their fault code was for

a sticking turbo. So ignore them unless they have tested it properly.

hi yes the fuel filter is the first thing i changed, and they did not do any tests and i have heard the P0251 code can be many things i have also cleaned my egr valve, i dont know what to try next, would i get that code from a faulty turbo it seems to cut out more on hills

No its a fuelling issue. A leakoff test on the injectors would tell you if any injectors are

past their best.

Plenty of threads on leakoff tests and info in the WIKI below.

I got all this crap out of the old filter there was no metal bits in it just crap filtered out of diesel by the looks of it, hopefully it should be ok I'm gonna get a leak off test done next, and does anyone know if the 115 have the same injectors as a 130 ?

Depends on which injectors you have. They will have a longer code starting EJDR and

ending in something like 401Z.

What last 4 characters do you have?

Not usually, you can take a picture of the label on the injector or use a mirror, its

usually on the rear side.

You may need to unclip the fuel return pipes, you only need a flat blade screwdriver

for that.

I can't read a thing on that pic you posted...are you sure they're 502? Still worth doing a cheap leak-off test if you've got the kit already.
Some on the bay £90 reconned. You might only need the one.

The codes more visible at different zoom levels.

Rectangle Wood Font Slope Circle

The smaller clip of the code in the red box maybe more visible than the larger pic?

Split boost pipes can also give white and blue/grey/white smoke.

If your sure they are OK then a leakoff test would be next on the cards.

It will have a slight overfuel with the boost pipe off, no fault codes for it though.

Prudent to check for signs of pump issues on any car before planning injector replacement if necessary. But it was the early pumps that had the highest failure rate. Misfuel will not be good because pump relies on diesel to lubricate contact surfaces...

2nd hand injectors would be an unknown quantity, you may get a good one or you may

get one from a car that was scrapped because of the injectors.

A bit of pot luck. It maybe cheaper in the long run to get a decent quality reconditioned

one.

But there are plenty of reconditioned ones being sold that may have had little more

than a dip in a sonic cleaner.
