Sorry to troll this subject but just stumbled upon it and thought i would discuss what happened to my V6 ghia x Mk2 last month, i had a big end bearing failure at 37000, i had purchased this car at 26000 miles two years ago, since i have purchased it it had 6 month oil and filter changes with Fuchs 5-30 oil, the car was never driven hard and definitely never driven hard from cold, the ticking/ knocking sound started about a month before complete failure, when the noise was one of the worst sounds you can hear from an engine  ,
God knows why this ever happened but surely it should never happened to a car that was looked after with such low mileage??
the car went for £210 spares or repair last week on ebay, heartbreaking
New Mondeo Mk3 Ghia X 2.0 purchased through this forum,, still miss my MK 2 V6

Mk2 V6 36000 miles big-end bearing failure, Sadly missed.
