garage job is easiest
but be preapred to fork out for a top mount as well, but that's only £12 and it needs to come off to change the spring in any case

easiest way to do it but do remember that suspension should be changed as axle sets really, when i got mine done the bill that went to the council was for £150 for labour at 3 hours

Same happened me yesterday......you will probably find the very top end of the spring has broken off as this holds the bearing in place (thats what you can move).Luckily Fords had a v6 spring in stock (£52 all in,thats with 30% discount)....its not actually the mount you need but the mount bearing(£10 all in with discount)....As for changing, what a b*****d.

Stripped all the brakes off....and everything connected to the strut....took the strut+spring and knuckle out in one piece. The spring because of its shape was a bugger to hold in a hydralic spring compressor so resorted to old fashioned spring compressors....all back together again but its hard work.
