puddle of water in passenger footwell

This morning I noticed a large puddle of rain water in the passenger front footwell of my mk1, I have opened the bonnet and cant work out where it is coming in from. What has caused this ingress and how do I rectifty the problem.?

check the door seal aswell, i had a a water leak in the back and it was just the door seal that had degraded

It might be an idea to check the pollen filter. It is on the passenger side on the MK1, and the rubber seal is prone to perishing over time. This can cause water leaks.

The exact same thing happened on my MK1, so it might be worth checking.

Also check you door cards seal. That was the problem on my car after I'd done everything else as in pollen filter seal, door seals etc. Seems worse if your car in parked in a street/driveway that slops to one side.
