whining noise on acceleration....

Just noticed this afternoon, that when accelerating there is a whining noise that seems to be coming from the engine.

I wondered if it was when in gear, so once home, i revved the engine and it happens as you rev.

Any ideas.....

oh, its just 2 days out of warranty too!!!!! had to happen to me eh!!!

I do have the car booked in on wed for an issue with a loose drivers seat.

2.0 litre diesel with just over 50,000 on the clock.

Steering pump ? check state of fluid if dirty change or suck as much as you can from the reservoir and top up with new
