Hi there,

I don't own a 1.25 petrol Fiesta but I have had many as courtesy cars. I personally find that the fuel economy of the Fiesta 1.25 is rather shocking!

I did some research a while ago and found that with these types of engines, letting them rev is better than putting it in 5th at 30 mph for example. 3/4 gear at 30mph is more economical than 5th where the cars computer does something to force more fuel into the engine as it labours.

Overall though, I have found them to be heavy on fuel and when I mentioned this to the lady at our Evans Halshaw dealer she agreed and said she would always go for the turbo diesel model every time.

I would take your car back to the dealer if you are totally unhappy. I can't see them doing much other than telling you the car is "fine" even though it never achieves anywhere near the manufacturer's MPG records.

Good luck,

Matthew.

Hi, isn't 38mpg urban spot on the ford figures anyway?

Had car in garage yesterday,-what a surprise!!! Nothing wrong with it. Bloke in garage said I'm no doing bad compare to his mate with same car.So that's a huge minus for a nice looking and nice to drive car. Going for a diesel next.

Hi, there probably isn't much wrong with you car but you could check the air filter isn't clogged. The official mpg for your car is on the ford website, however as you can disregard them as the figures, like any other manufacturer, are obtained artificially as governed by the eu.
