Hi, this is a post about 'the wife's car', she has a 2003 1.4 TDCi zetec 68bhp.

I had to use the car for work other day. When I started it from cold, the car sounded awful, it sounds like its running on 3 cylinders initially, and you can feel the car juddering, if you try and move off, the car stalls. The rough idle seemed to settle after around 60 seconds.

That is only part of the problem. The car feels 'gutless', and wont accelerate above 70mph, even when the engine is at operating temperature, on a long straight section of road, approximately 3 miles long, I put my foot to the floor, in 5th gear at 70mph, by the end of this section of road, the car only got to 75mph, this cant be right surely? I know I am used to a 2 litre Mondeo diesel, but even so, it should perform better than this?

Any suggestions?
