Hello,

I own a 2005 Ford Explorer imported from the US, and need to replace a leaky rear axle oil seal. I was told that Ford Explorer models built until 2006 share most of the engine and drivetrain components with the previous models sold in the UK until 2001.

The problem is that my local Ford dealership cannot order spare parts with just the description, they need to have either a VIN no. for an Explorer sold locally, or a FINIS code which is different from the American original part number.

Can anybody help me?

have a look down the explorer section, hovering over "?" when looking at exploded view/parts list shows regional variations :L

This is Ford country, listen quietly and you can hear Vauxhalls rusting :)
Ever noticed that putting "anal" in front of some ford model names makes them sound funny? Fiesta, Probe, Ranger. Explorer, Maverick etc... lol

Thank you very much, Siruncle! Went to get the FINIS code and ordered the part right away, and I got it in my mail today. I'll let you know if it fits.

Cheers,
Arturo.
