How to remove the bonnet lock striker from bonnet?

Hello all!

Anybody got experience in how to get the bonnet (hood) striker out of the bonnet? It's held on by two bolts fairly trivial to loosen. Things get tricky when trying to wiggle it out of the opening they somehow got it into at the factory.

Here is an example photo showing the part I need to take out without having to replace the entire bonnet assembly:

The angled opening will be the clue, the striker will wiggle into a position where it just

passes through the opening.

A bit of persuasion maybe needed though.

Whats wrong with that piece? bent or something?

Some enhanced persuasion to say the least coming up.

No deformity other than heavy corrosion as you can see. Thought I'd sand it down completely, and use 'Hammerite' to keep the rust from spreading for what it's worth.

Tried this morning turning it in every combination I could think of without that thing getting out.

See a couple of photos below of not yet having succeeded with this.

Other ideas (without the use of brute force, blades, or flames)?

In the last picture you can see the hole in the bracket, how much of the bracket

is there to the left of that?
