Anybody got experience in how to get the bonnet (hood) striker out of the bonnet? It's held on by two bolts fairly trivial to loosen. Things get tricky when trying to wiggle it out of the opening they somehow got it into at the factory.
Here is an example photo showing the part I need to take out without having to replace the entire bonnet assembly:
Some enhanced persuasion to say the least coming up.
No deformity other than heavy corrosion as you can see. Thought I'd sand it down completely, and use 'Hammerite' to keep the rust from spreading for what it's worth.
I found this picture of a part looking very similar to the one stuck inside the bonnet. It's a puzzle to be able to rotate the striker with the bracket having seemingly so little room in there to maneuver.
Totally a no-go with this thing. Did a half-ass job of scraping/sanding off any reachable corrosion while it's in there. Then drenched the cavity with oil to be able to slow down the process on the backside.
