Guys,
It with a heavy heart that i write this but i think the time has come for me to get my coat, say cheerio, and head for the exit.
A number of factors really. Number one being the Zetec-S left me today for new ownership. A new job and a 70 mile round trip daily meant the V6 wasn't really viable any more. I've bought a diesel Insignia.....32mpg versus 50.....No contest whichever way you cut it and i was offered such a good deal on the car id have been stupid to refuse it.
The mondeo had become a daily hack/workhorse really. I've a beach buggy and a 306 Rallye for the fun stuff. The 8 and a half years of ownership has been great. 95k I put on that car. It's been the best and most reliable car I ever owned. Not once in all that time/mileage did she let me down.
The days of MEG I will not forget, I made a lot of good friends, some of whom are no longer with us. Some great days out had along with a lot of fun.
Life changes. It means I dont get on here much at all any more. Kind of reflects the changes to the way the mondeo fitted in with me really. My priorities have changed and family and a young (Ish... ) daughter come first. As said, I've still my toys, but the daily needs to be the daily. No mods, no taking it apart, wondering if you will be able to put it back together in time and will it still work etc. My job means I have to have a half respectable car as well. Quite often have to ferry customers about etc.
In short, I've grown up. Not that grown ups can't have fun, I just don't have fun in a Mondeo anymore.
I saw a post today about how many members have upped and moved on. I think its very much true. This site was born out of MEG, for the mondeo. Again, things change. People diversify. The Mk1, 2 and 3 are a dying breed, the mk1 and 2 perhaps more so.
So with a heavy heart, and fond memories, I do the metaphorical equivalent of hand in my wings. It's been a blast. Enjoyed every minute but life moves on, and so must I.
If anyone want to keep in touch, I'm on face book (Ben Wells, a fat bloke in a green buggy with my daughter). Im also pretty active on Detailing World keeping my project thread for the 306 up to date.
So that's me guys. Thanks for having me. I'll look in from time to time.
Ben
