Picked her up on Friday so not much done just yet, just the bulbs in the footwells. Hopefully at the end of the month the rear windows will all be tinted. The 6006e radio's knackered and lo and behold so was the spare so I have an aftermarket single din sat in my kitchen awaiting the new fascia which should arrive tomorrow, hopefully. Once it's arrived in it will go.

A few months after I bought my V6 mondy the 6006e swallowed a disc. I found a video showing how to get it out, doing so I discovered two more discs inside. Good job I didn't try to insert 6 discs. Any way it wasn't very long before after playing the radio for about 5 minutes it starts to fade until it stops, then the error code came up and stopped working altogether. From what I've found online they're not worth replacing with another 6006e

I wired up the aftermarket stereo today but it wouldn't work, right up until I, again, checked the fuses, fuse 72 is also linked to the radio, I was unaware of it. Found it blown so replaced it and voila, radio works, the aftermarket is only a cheap one to get by with so I decided to try the 6006e again, lo and behold it worked, with an error code, e3, took it out and opened it up and the cd tray wasn't level so pushed it down which levelled it out and everything works again. Happy days again, and I have the new fascia for when the time comes for a half decent aftermarket stereo.

The Mrs has a few days off so will be replacing the standard filter with a pipercross today which has arrived in the post, does anybody know if there are any other mods that can be done to the air box aside from an induction kit? I do like the induction noise but for the first time in my life im staying with a panel filter....

Looking at your profile photo in post no2 I assume your airbox is the standard 2.5 V6 one as found in the MK2 and Cougar?
It is possible to swap these for ST200 airboxes which have a secondary air inlet in the base of them.

Edit: just realised that post no2 was made by someone else; do you have the same engine etc?

Yes I have the same engine and airbox. With reference to the second air inlet, excuse the dumb question, but wouldn't this be similar to drilling the bottom of the standard airbox?

Drilling the standard box would have the same effect to a degree but it would be sucking-in hot air rising from the gearbox.
The ST200 airbox has a trumpet protruding from it's bottom section which angles down and forward away from the gearbox. It also has a larger intake on the wing side compared with the standard airbox.
The biggest 'problem' in fitting one properly is sourcing the dedicated support bracket and larger airbox-to-wing bellows.
The standard bracket can be modified to fit it but the wing bellows can't.

Just been having a think about it and I'm toying with the idea of drilling a large hole in the bottom of the box then running a sealed hose from the lower grill at the front of the car, with a trumpet, to the new hole in the airbox. Worth doing? I like the idea of what would basically be a custom airbox....

Today-custom air box made and fitted from the original and a few holes under the filter added for good measure. Sounds awesome once the power is on.
Headlight bulbs upgraded to Philips (I can't remember which ones!) extreme I think?......checked them tonight and they're a million times better and much brighter whiter light, just got to lower the left light a bit as it's a bit high so that's a job for tomorrow. I will get round to posting some photos eventually when I remember to take some!!

Removed the rad grill and sprayed it black after a good clean. Gave it several coats but the paint isn't taking too well, any ideas? Maybe too oily or greasy? If that's the case anyone have any experience in getting it cleaner/degreased?
