I ran the Forscan, it seemed to work and read all the different modules, but failed to find one single error ("no error codes found"), so now i'm back to square one again

Did you flip the switch when forscan asked You to? Otherwise it will not read all the modules.

I think it is rare to find an "older" car with no errors at all... especially if they have not been cleared recently.

Id give it a full service then try again with super unleaded on the rollers with an italian tune up on the way there for good measure ( same as terraclean but a damn sight cheaper ) from my experience with ford petrols they need a twice monthly thrashing  to keep in top form, just mooching in economy mode using the torque doesn't do em any good

I turned the ignition on as it said to, but it didn't do anything until i turned the engine on, then it read the modules. I'll run it again over the weekend and see if it's any different.

it's had a service today and does get a good revving every so often, so i'll try the forscan again first.

A day after Ford serviced it too. :)

No, to be honest I gave up on it with the diagnostics not showing anything and not knowing what to do next.
