How much does an engine weigh?

I'm looking to re-con a Mk1 1.8 silvertop.

What sort of weight is the complete engine?

At a guess I would say around 150kg's for a zetec

The reason I ask is because I need to get one home somehow from a breakers. I dont think the boot floor will take the weight in my mk1 (although I have had 250kgs of sand in there.......)

Anyone tried?

I can't see the Zetec, but it's not going to be more than an Essex V6.

I got a full 1.8 silvertop/gearbox in my garage, that is for sale :whistling: had to move it on a trolley jack

I moved one using a trailer

I put a 2.0 zetec complete with manifolds gearbox and drive shafts in the back of mine. Just make sure you put down a strong bit of wood to sit it on, that way the weight should be spread more

i don't think this should be a problem, just put a decent piece of ply on the bottom to spread the weight

I have had a galaxy 2.3 engine in mine so a mondy engine should be fine
