Thanks, I'll add this into Revision 2
I've just bought a MK1 Galaxy and it is leaking but i cant see where from. pictures or a step by step guide on fixing this would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Hi, great guide, but there is a couple of things I would like to point out, where the guide says about transmissions available, it only states 5 speed manual and 4 speed auto, but on the MK2 you can get 6speed manual and 5 speed auto as well as 4 speed auto with tiptronic function and there is a typo where it should say Sharan near the end it says Sharon.
Also I would like to add about common faults with MK2 Parking Sensors failing due to over exposure and agree with a previous comment that says Relay 30 is a common fault which is the relay for the fuel pump. But Relay 30 is the fault for Petrol Models only and Relay 109 is the same fuel pump relay fault for the diesel engines on the mk1 and mk2. Hope this helps.
Thanks for this great guide.

Now regarding water penetration to the front passenger area this can also be caused by the rear wash feed which runs along the passenger side, there is a joint between the front door and rear door sill this can come apart so if it is not via the ventilation try there aswell.
Relay 30 this can fail causing non-start and it is due to the solder joints cracking you can just replace the fuse, but if you are a dab hand with a soldering iron it is just a case of solder sweating the joints again
Auto gear shift lock this has a intermittent fault of jamming and the gear level will have to be stripped to get to the switch, there is a small black lever you can press to overide it to get you home but be careful as your brake lights may not work as it is linked to the brake light switch.
Coil pack on the 2.8i engine is a single jobby instead of twin packs on other models this can crack in places causing misfire as these are over £100 to replace you can get some epoxy resin and seal it this will give you another couple of years use thus enabling you to save up to replace it new .
Same again with the HT leads these break down too and will need replacing.
These are the most common faults with the MK1
All these faults have been rectified on my MK1 and is now sweet.
