Hi, I have an issue with the cabin light. It will work when switched on manually but not when the doors open (yes the switch is in correct position). Any help is really appreciated!

Is there only one cabin light (dont know what model car you have). If footwell lights are on then maybe a connection has come off in the main light.

Does it happen on all doors?

Does the lights reminder operate when door is open and side lights are switched on as this will tell you that the door sensors are working ok?

Hi, its a 2008 mk4. Rear light works fine its just the front one. Reminder works ok.
The front light doesn't come on when doors open nor when the central locking is open, rear light works fine.

Pull the light fitting out and chcek that all 3 wires are connected. It could also be the actual light switch itself no switching (no contact) when in the door position.

This may seem a bit silly, but try tapping the light fitting quite hard with the switch in the door position. The internal connections in the light fittings are simple point contact connections and they can easily make a poor contact. If you see the light 'flicker' when you tap it you may well have a poor contact in the fitting.

Gave it a firm thump but nothing. Will have to wait for daylight to remove it only managed to remove the perspex cover and that simply accesses the bulb. Is it simply a pull out component as it seems pretty solid?

Small screwdriver into slot - front of light, behind mirror, to release it.
