Hi Folks.
Apologies if this is the same as previous discussions.

I have previously at 9500miles or so had the Service Oil Light come on - and i was very close to a service anyway - so sorted that out.

Tonight driving home at 13,600 miles the Engine Malfunction warning light came on. There is also a service oil light message behind that one too.

Obviously the first time this happened to me there was no engine malfunction warning. Do you think this is just the same type of glitch to do with the oil sensor, but a new way of showing since a probable update at my frst service or is it another glitch anyone knows about ?

The car drives fine, the engine temp is fine, there's no noise or anything to suggest a problem (i will check the oil when the engine cools down later but i suspect it will be fine too because i'm only a few thousand miles past a service and have no evidence of oil loss.

Will obviously have to take into a dealer to check out, but i'd like to drive the 25miles to work on Monday, (garage near there). Its Just the engine malfunction info is worrying me a bit.

On reflection there's probably not a major issue, there's no engine warning light or other permanent light

Having read the manual again, i think the warning message 'engine malfunction' and triangle and "i" yellow warning light basically will highlight an issue has occurred and store it in the memory. It then repeats every time you go in the car to remind you to get your backside down the dealers. So its probably not a continous fault but a single event logged or two events if the oil service message is a seperate one.

Anyway, more buggering around having to be without the car for a day !

Let us know how you get on. If you've only had the fresh oil in for 1500 / 2000 miles since the service it should be fine.

Is the oil level OK, not too high above the full mark?

Had the service at approx 10000 miles (time rather than mileage as pre-reg had been sitting around for a while)so 3600 miles on the new oil

On inspection the Oil level is fine, although its not the most thick oil i've ever seen if you know what i mean. Quite runny/thin and deep black.

Hopefully they can squeeze me in on Monday sometime. Will post any outcome.
cheers

The Ford spec oil is pretty thin anyway, after my last service I checked the oil level after 5 miles and it drips straight off the dipstick, also gets black VERY quickly.

If the level is fine that's a good sign, means it isn't getting diluted by diesel from attempted DPF regenerations.

Dealer not that interested this morning, couldn't fit me in so car is booked in for tomorrow.

I have to pay a diagnostic charge - £68. Not happy with that. Particularly as it was serviced on the 8th October. Ho Hum.

If they do find a fault, you should not have to pay the diagnostic charge.

Thanks, I phoned customer relations centre and have a case number set up. They are going to talk with dealer tomorrow. So fingers crossed something will be sorted out.

While searching for info, i also came across the exact same problem on the Kuga owners forum.

Car back from garage, who were very helpful but nothing specific identified. No action taken and no further software update, "we'll see if it happens again"

A few error codes were registered;-
U3001-00-08-ABS control module improper shutdown
B112B-07-28-BCMI steering wheel module mechanical failure
v0416-68-ZA-IPC Invalid date received from VDM
P253F-00-ZF-PCM engine oil detonated

Codes cleared, Reset Light.

And just to add to my luck, while driving back to work and a stone chipped the front windscreen.. Autoglass repair on Friday.
