Sorry if it's been hammered to death but I would like them.first question is does the chrome bit come off or do I have to get the same colour to match the car, second is that has anyone had any loom mimicing them as I'm on a budget and don't really want to pay £70+ for a bit of chrome. Has anyone put that chrome strip on and does it look any good or does it stick out. I havnt seen any chrome tape that is flat like selotapr. Thanks

please, mate...don't put the chrome strip...it will stick out and never will you see a chrome strip as thimn as sello tape...
the chrome bit doesn't come off...you can buy any available colours and just have it resprayed...but if you'e on a tight budget then have a longer patience looking for the right colour...seeing that your car is pepper red, then chances are will be like as rare....lol..

The chrome is fixed the the handle, you need to buy the handles that match the colour of your car :-)
I wouldnt suggest sticking chrome to the handle, in my opionion it would look naff.
I got my set for £30 from ebay

Get the real deal... You can DIY paint them, it's stupidly easy to do.

How do you paint them. Do you just mask the chrome off???

I haven't gone for the chrome handles as I think it clashes with the chrome weatherstrip and over complicates the side profile of the car.
I would have thought the chrome could be detached as it can be from the rear tailgate handle. Otherwise I would mask it off fully.
Use electrical insulation tape and a tooth pick. The tape takes form better than masking tape and using the tooth pick ensure it follows the lines and creases etc. Then with a blade cut away any excess.
Remember to cover the chrome before you attempt to rub anything down pre-paint otherwise you'll risk scratching it up.

I agree with you with the weather strips. Unfortunatly I have neither and decided to go with one and chose the handles.lol if the chrome could come away could it be attatched onto my handles to avoid painting and would it also work with the boot trim?? Thanks

No, the handles require a recessed section for the chrome to sit in to.
Chrome weatherstrips are easy to come by, fit and imo look better than the handles on their own.

the chrome on the main handle unit themselves are removable for painting purposes ( 2 screws on the back & the chrome trim lifts off :L )
but the chrome on the small blanking plate where the keyhole is etc needs suitably masking off in order to paint but as said above its not difficult to do :)

the chrome bits don't come off on the ones i've got, the plastic of the handles has been melted over the top of the holes
but yes, easier to find a set in your colour than to get them painted, and mine is also pepper red and i waited and waited for ages
the boot strip is removable as it's just clipped into place so that's fairly easy to do
but if you want them painted, i've got one side in grey (i think)

Might be interested. Usually get them as a set. Would also like the boot trim if I can find one
