Its a 2.8 GL auto that I bought in February 1990. All 2.8's were auto as standad, manual was optional on all except the 'Sport' It's never been restored although obviously it's been worked on and looked after over that time. Mk2's never had side repeaters although there are a few non standard features on mine. Such as, Ghia grille, headlamp washers, the spot and fog lamps, the cossie wheels and the 'injection spoiler.
Oh and the engine.
Engine was built for a Cobra replica that was shunted in an accident. Its bored to 2.9, modded cam etc. I'm running a Mk1 38DGAS (brand new) and a modified Chevy V8 Edelbrock filter. All the covers and pulleys etc are chromed and came with the engine. It goes well and we still ocasionally tow the caravan with it as we've always done.
THe GL isn't much different to a Ghia tbh. Leccy winows all round, power steering, sunroof, electric operated and heated door mirrors, cental locking (remote on mine) tiinted glass, leccy drivers seat. All standard. The Ghia got metallic paint, alloy wheels, different grille, and chrome bumper corners. As well as different material on the seats and rear headrests which no estate got any way. Ghia X got leccy passenger seat, air con and trip computer and the GhiaX Executive got leather.

i've striped more then you could count !

even though most were auto, they wernt optinal as manual, this was alo available

side repts are a mot failure. any thing post 83 should have them for test

had a special a few years ago myself
& had a tweek withe my mates minster the other week !
(bonus point if any one can tell what a minster is !)

prefer mk1s myself !

sorry your correct about side repts on a mk2 !

post april 86 they are required for test !

i was thinking wrong, altough some ford models had them from 83>
