Hello Guys,
I'm very confused when looking through the forums about Double Din fitting my Mondeo so i thought i'll ask about my Monde specifically.

It's a 2001 51' Mondeo LX so just has the normal Ford Stereo, Is it a straight fit or do I have to do the dash work to get it to fit?

Thanks Alot guys

a 2 din will not fit in the pre-facelift radio hole,

i fitted a single cd player using an adaptor and there is no way a double din would fit when you look at it all fitted.

I think you can cut part of the dash away to make it fit

Yeah i heard you can trim the dash to make it fit, Just don't want to go throught the progress of buying a 300 quid radio for it not to fit.

I'm with Lexic on this one.

I've fitted a single din into mine (with a blanking plate to bridge the gap between where the single din finishes and the aperture is) and there is no way a double din unit will fit without modifying the aperture.

You'd be better buying a single din unit with a motorised screen that pops out when on if you want screen size but you may need to consider the clearance of the screen and the heater controls, as they may get covered by the screen.

Would you reckon I could trim the top and bottom and fit? or is it not as clear cut as that?

I'd rather not go to a motorised one as they look horrible in my opinion.

Thanks Guys.

If you are dead set on going double din then it might be worth buying a spare centre console etc so that you can put the car back to it's original condition if you decide to sell it later or just to have a spare in case you end up making a mistake and needing to start again.

You'll need a centre console with gear surround and a double din frame for a mk2 focus.

That's what I used (had it to hand) and took me about a day including paint.

I used to make them for people for around £145 but haven't got the time as I'm working on my own car at the moment.
