The front fog light on my Mondeo MK4 on the driver's side has smashed and needs to be replaced. Does anyone know how to change it or does it need to be changed by a Ford dealer?

Depends how handy you are with a screwdriver!
I fitted a set of sport fogs replacing the TitX standard fogs. It was a while ago but I remember the fog lights are held in place with 2x 8mm hex headed screws which can be reached from the underside of the front bumper and removing or gently prising open the underguard panel will give you access.
Lights can then be 'popped' free by inserting a firm flat plastic strip (I used a hardened plastic strip not sure what it was off!) to the top left and right of the light to release the metal holding clips.
Light will come away with wiring plug attached at back. I think there is a 'How To Thread' somewhere on this forum :)

A bit late with this, but I replaced the driver side recently. I broke one of the
plastic pieces onto which the metal screw retainer fits. I had difficulty in getting
the lamp to fit back in and forced it to much.

Finally, I removed the bulb before inserting the lamp. That sorted it. If you don't
want to remove the stone guard, there ar two holes into which you can slide
the screwdriver through and access the retaining screws. Jack up and support
the car safely and slide yourself under the car on your back. This should give you
a better view. :)

Mondeo 2.5T Tit X 2008, in panther black, sportspack and privacy glass. Never seem another model like it in my area. Looks good but getting naffed off with irritating faults and bad customer service..

Thanks for that NME. I've phoned my local Ford garage for the price of a new front fog light and it's £88.73 inc. VAT! So I think I'll attempt to replace it myself, if I get them to change it, it'll cost around £130!
I don't understand why they use glass lenses instead of plastic lenses as on the headlights.

Must be a spate of righthand side foglamps popping, mine was hit by something 2 weeks ago.

I looked at Fordparts and yes with VAT it was £82.54 and then you add shipping

Rang my local Ford dealer and asked them if they could match Fordparts price, and yes was the reply, we’ll have one tomorrow for you. Deal done

There are Sport foglights for sale on Ebay for £ 50 a pair. item number is
230881644798

I presume these are a straight swap for the glass ones and probably less likely to be damaged.
