I've just bought a 99 1.7 Puma that suffered from an engine problem.
The guy drove it 20 miles without water in it (the valve to the heater on the bulkhead had split) The car got 1/4 mile from our house and stopped dead.
Compression was ok on 1 & 4 , 2 & 3 showed nothing and were full of water when the head was removed.
Therefore, do i source a second hand engine or will just a headgasket sort it out do you reckon?
What is the percentage chance that the head is cracked?
Advice would be helpful....
