I've got my code reader today and have read the DTC's that point to the Inlet Metering Valve that needs replacing,
So can any one tell me where it is/how to replace it as I cant find it in haynes so I can check the contacts.
Also I think I read that it needs to be coded to the ECU is that right?

The codes were
p2291 injector control pressure too low - engine cranking
p0251 injector pump fual metering control a

Cheers

The imv is on the end of the pump under the inlet manifold. It has a brown electrical connection and should be next to the fuel temp sensor which is blue. That's if its a tdci 130. Hope that helps

Just changed mine and it made no difference £120 wasted. P0251 can be lots of things P2291 comes on after the engine has been started a certain number of times with P0251 present.
Its usually pump or injectors causing it.

Im going to try to make it do it again while I have the lappie and cable in the car this weekend so hopefully I'll get more info before i replace anything.
but given i get abit of blue smoke at start up I feel it might be a injector.

has it happened since it was changed or before? it could be a faulty filter even if it is bosch

its probably not the filter then.

seems an odd one to me i thought the fuel filter may have sorted it. how is the car actually running though? is it ok, smoking etc?

Have tried that and it just showed the same codes.
Had a leak back test done today and one injector is leaking back considerably more than the others especially at higher revs which would cause a drop in pressure in the rail. Hopefully i have found my problem.

You may have a faulty injector or two leaking off excessively and causing your low fuel pressure rather than the imv being faulty. Best do a leakoff test before shelling out on parts.

it may be the case you will need to leave it for a while until it gets worse then. sometimes problems like this can only be solved by waiting for them to get worse unfortunately :(

Well just to confuse matters I now have another code...
P1211 - Injector Control Pressure Sensor Above / Below Desired (engine running)
along with he p0251 again.
I had to retstart a few time on the m1 as the engine cut out after accelerating from 50 to 70 in 5th (dam roadworks).

So I guess thats the pump/metering valve then

nope If you have an injector leaking back to much fuel (Even 1 on its own) it can still give Pressure fault codes

agree with the above think of it like this if its leaking too much there will be less pressure there. might be worth doing aleak off test

also the is only 1 pressure sensor on the end of the common rail. if one injector drops pressure by leaking back to much fuel. then the sensor will still read the whole rail meaning fault codes related to pressure!

being an 02 plate I would check the pump is not breaking up before laying out money on injectors
