I sold my probe to my cuz when i bought my first house because i thought i couldnt afford both house and car insurance because i was only young and insurance for it was quite high, so after a while i realised iwanted it back, i loved it and my cuz was willing to sell it back to me, while i was trying to get the money together it got stolen, this is how it ended up :(

The vectra was my uncles car, he chased them and when they realised he wasnt going to give up they put it in reverse and rammed him. My uncles car wasnt even that damaged either amazingly, little dent and some scratches.

Yes they legged it, the police didnt do much either to be honest but i dont suppose there was alot they could do, they was well gone before they got there. Didnt find any prints or anything. Id definatly have another probe though, the only problem i had with it the whole time was the distributor, i know alot of people dont like em but i think they are great, goon on juice too.

The joyriders obviously thought it was a good car too, hence why they nicked it.
So you can take that as a complement :}

How did they nick it, hot wire?, keys in ignition?, got the keys out of the house?

They probably stole it because ALL Fords of that age could be stolen with a butter knife!

if the dizzy kept going it was caused by your imob, its easy to fix and costs nothing but time to cure the dizzy fault.

The distributor went on mine, took me a while to find the replacement because apparently there is two types. Finally got that sorted and the immob had stuck so had to get it to a car electrician. Quite a dear do but was fine after that. They had the keys when they stole it, my cuz was showing them the car because they wanted to "buy" it. They actually drove off with the bonnet up apparently.

they're not the same as a ford though are they. they were built in a mazda factory by mazda.

it's an n reg so it was running a temic immobiliser which you cannot bypass. the immobiliser is wired into the ecu, you can start it but once it realises they key isn't there after about 5 or so seconds it'll cut the engine.

believe me when i say you cannot steal a probe with a temic immobiliser!!!

that's better than your old ford's isn't it :}

I seem to remember that was a problem on all the V6 Mazdas'. These were among the first "solid state" distributors fitted to Mazdas & there were no parts available to repair them. The only other problems I can remember on the MX-6 (& 626 it was based on) were rear calipers seizing. I thought there was only one distributor for all the V6 models but my memory isn't all it could be & I stopped working with Mazda in 2001! I used to sell quite a lot of mechanical parts to Ford dealers because the availibilty from Mazda was a lot better than Ford. Actually door lock barrels were another issue, mainly I think because thieving scum bags would try to steal them.
