HI, my first time so i will go steady. ive got a 99 puma with locking fault as follows, you can lock the car with the 3 button fob but not unlock. You can sit in the car & lock the doors from the interior & unlock the doors from the interior. You can lock the doors from the outside with the key,but not unlock with the key,so at the minute i can't lock the car at all without having to break in. Ive got one key with a three button fob & one key is a normal black key with a chip in it,non of the keys unlock the doors but they lock. Any help would be appreciated,
Cheers Daz

if it were me, i'd spray some wd40 into the lock barrel from the outside and repeat after 24 hours, if your key doesn't manually unlock the doors after another 24 hours, i'd take the door cards off and have a look there to see if all the mechanism is connected. as for the key, (i'll presume you've bought a new battery) maybe the button has come apart from the circuit board and needs re-soldering. failing that, or if soldering is not your forte, have a look on ebay or go to ford (*last resort* as much £££) and buy yourself a complete key, then its a matter of taking the 'pats' chip out of the 'new' key and putting your 'pats' chip in. it will need re-programming, but don't get the programming done at ford because they'll relieve you of about £50 just to sit in your car for about 2 minutes, and probably turn the key in the ignition a few times and press a button on your remote. if you're really lucky you may find a key at the breakers (if they're willing to part with it).

thats the key programming info

I personally would start by resting the central locking module first followed by reprogramming the kek and see what happens. Have you had an instance where after locking it immediately unlocks itself as this would point to a faulty door motor. Also when you lock lock with the key do all doors lock? If one doesn't it will be that one that needs a new door motor mechanism.paul

In regards to locking.

Ive got a 1.7 (zetec S) and Ive replaced the battery in the key fob but i have to press it still 3/4 times before it's recognised. Is there something I'm missing lol

possibly a bad contact in the fob, are all buttons operation the same? keys spend a lot of time in pockets and get filled with fluff etc
