have the same experience. New MK4.5, 2.0TDCi 120kW .. it's around 2500rpm, when I try to shift gear, it dissappears. Weird and very annoying.

My car went into the local Ford dealer today. having thoroughly checked the car inclusing driving it up and down the local motorway, the results are in.............
Drumroll.......
They didn't find anything wrong with it!!!!
Unfortunately I wasn't able to collect the car myself otherwise I'd have offered to sit in during the test tp point out when the vibration was taking place.
To satisfy myself that I wasn't going mad, I took the car out when I got home:
Sure enough, at 3000rpm in 1st, 2nd and in 3rd gears there is still a definite resonance/buzz through the accelerator pedal.
It may well be the case that,
"They all do that", but a buzz at 2500-3000rpm is very annoying in a motorway-munching car.
I'm going to give the car a good looking at over the weekend. when I find the cause I'll be educating the Ford dealer, as I did with the hidden thermostat fault on my Mk3.....

MC, don't you just hate that when they say "nothing is wrong with it"?
I'd bet they didn't even look at it. Anyhow it looks like the resonance is acommon thing on the Mondy..it's not a bimmer so I somehow came to live with it.

Contempt. What do we know about our cars. Why do they think we imagine things and then insult us by saying there nothing wrong with it. make you feel like saying, 'is that the quality I can expect of a (new model) Ford'?

Had a similar problem on mine. Vibration at 2000 rpm, more noticeable in higher gears. Been in for service today and apparently it's a loose air intake box that they have fixed FOC as part of the service. Not 100% convinced but I'll keep you posted it it ain't.

Update. It ain't the air intake box, suprise suprise! Going back in for a proper investigation rather than the service fob off I've just had.

No, it's not the airbox -My airbox inlet pipe had been taped up in the past.
I got the chance to have a quick look under my car yesterday when it was having its tyres looked at. I couldn't see any obvious source of vibration against the bulkhead on the driver's side.
The only possible thing was a pipe that ran against the edge of some insulation/heatshield fabric, although it wasn't loose and I can't imagine that this would transfer the sort of vibrations I can feel through the throttle pedal.
I intend to have a good look at the engine mounts ....despite the Ford dealer telling me that they were fine.
There is some sort of resonance from the engine that hasn't been successfully isolated from the bodywork somwhere. It needs to be found!

""They all do that", but a buzz at 2500-3000rpm is very annoying in a motorway-munching car"
But it does 70 mph at 2000 rpm , how would you know what it did at 2500/3000 , you'd have to take it on a racetrack obviously.
I've got afew of these 140's and none of them resonate , perhaps get another ford dealer or a 3rd party garage to test drive it ?

I'm planning to lift the front of the car and then jack up the engine to check the play/movement in the mounts.

Further update. Took out the senior technician at my local dealer as I can replicate the vibration on demand. Half a mile later he concludes: Dual Mass Flywheel. When I stated that was a quick diagnosis his reply was "we've had quite a few" so I'm satisfied he knows hat he's talking about. Cars still under warranty by 6 months so I'm feeling pretty fortunate. Hoping this'll cure the very slight unusual misfire / uneven acceleration too as the all seem to be happening around the same RPM. Fingers crossed.
One thing for you MC Bodge: The tech said you can normally hear the vibrations of a knackered DMF before you feel them and that they can be quite loud. Good luck!

There is no unusual sound from my car yet, just an rpm related resonance that is most noticeable between 2500-3000rpm. It appears to be independent of load.
Let us now the outcome of changing the DMF and whether or not the vibration issue is resolved.

Just got back from supposedly having a new DMF fitted. Short story - it wasn't done! Long story is that Ford have a technical bulletin which details the problem and a test program for the dealership to run in order for it to qualify as a warranty failure. Although the technician and service manager both agree it is the DMF, because it doesn't meet the Ford criteria I can't have it fixed under warranty. Basically I have to wait for it to get worse! But fair play to the dealership they've said to leave it until it does get worse and if it doesn't, still come back before the warranty expires and they'll have another go at the test. I've got 6 months and 10k till the end of the warranty so I'm hoping (strangely) that it gets worse. After the warranty, I'll be battling with Ford HQ as it was already failing within the warranty period. £1300 to pay for one - bugger that for a game of soldiers! Warranty or Watchdog, it'll be Fords choice!

Interesting. It sounds as if you have an unusually good Ford dealer. Good luck with following it up.
Does the amplitude of the vibration on your car build up to a maximum at 2000rpm and then decrease with a further increase in rpm or does it decrease?
My car definitely peaks toward 3000rpm, which as pointed out by others, is not a problem in 6th gear. If it the vibraton was at 2000rpm it would be very annoying.

Whilst driving, I discovered that the vibration is present across the whole of the bulkhead in the driver's footwell. I had a short time to investigate when I stopped and had a feel between the engine and the bulkhead. At tickover there are pipes close to the bulkhead that vibrate. If I get chance I'll jack up the car and check out the vibration at different rpm.
There is no obvious noise from the flywheel.

My mondeo tdci 140 also has an irritating resonance at about 1400 and 2800 rpm especially noticeable when taking the foot off the accelerator when accelerating and changing gear. Its almost as though there is a loose exhaust or something. Fraud dealer repositioned the air inlet on the air filter box last service and said it would fix it- which it didnt. Why dont they ever road test these things?
I have had a feel round the engine for anything loose and noticed the air induction duct that runs between the engine and the bulkhead and is connected to the rubber flexible pipe on the air filter box is loose and moves up and down with a rattle - about 6mm- at the air box end. Cant see how it is supposed to be fixed in position- and to what. I think this could be the cause of my resonance- anyone else know if it supposed to be tight and how it is fixed?
