We've had our C-max 1.8 TDI for 6 weeks and its been getting scarier and scarier to drive. Occasionally it lurches when I lift my foot from the accelerator to the brake, and today for the second time (although I thought I was imagining it the first time but now I know I wasn't) it was getting faster and faster when I didn't have my foot on the accelerator. And I was going up hill! Any suggestions gratefully received. Id love some idea what the problem is before I tackle the dealer.

Speeding up without accelerating? That's a new concept. :eek13:

Do you have cruise control? Are you certain you haven't accidentally enabled this?

The only other thing I can think that wouldn't have other obvious symptoms (like massive oil leaks into the turbo) is a sticking throttle cable.

Ive had that a few times in my mondeo if i go into third as im slowing down, if the revs are low its starts to speed up without touching the accelorator, which is a bit unnerving when you coming to a junction or up behind a car.
