Hi my name is Toby and i need much help.
I had my clutch recently replaced and 4 days after this my Ford Galaxy developed a starting issue.
Now i have cleaned all relevant valves checked for loose fittings,replaced an engine relay and a fuel pump relay checked plugs,coils and all to no avail.
A mechanic came to my home and could not get a reading when it was put on a diagnostic reader,however he determined that because the led was flashing on the door this could be a way of reading the problem he determined that according to an independent website that i have since researched means that the PATS is not communicating with the ECU and causing the engine to crank but not to fire!
What i need is some idea of price to fix this and what would be the process.
many,many,many thanks in advance. :(

have you tried with a different key? when i used to own a galaxy there was reports of a relay failing due to dry solder joints, if you google Ford galaxy relay 30. you should find plenty of info .its in the engine bay next to the battery
good luck.

Relay 30 is the Fuel Pump Relay, and he has stated he has already replaced this. If the led in the door is still flashing after you have unlocked the car then that means the immobiliser is not turning off.

I am sending another reply to this topic as have had a severe problem with non starting with my MK2 Galaxy, and have now SOLVED and FIXED the fault.

In front of your Battery there is a small fusebox. And in that box is several wires. The top black wire which goes to the alternator has a tendancy to burn out and arc, causing the non starting problem, I went down to halfords and bought a new ring terminal and cut back the wire, attached the new terminal to the wire, I also used carb cleaner and a wire brush to clean up the metal contacts in the fusebox where the cable bolts on to, as well as rubbing general purpose grease in where the wire bolts to as my wire had melted the fusebox slightly and caused a small crack, the grease is acting as a barrier. I put it all back together, and so far 3rd running, The starting problem has gone completely for now. Here is some pictures;
(PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS AN UNKNOWN COMMON FAULT ON MK2 GALAXY'S for both the Petrol and Diesel models!)

Note the top black lead is overheated.

Note where the lead touched the fusebox, the plastic is melted and there is a crack.

That's called the Main Feed Fusebox, and I also had an intermittent starting/charging problem with my 2001 Galaxy about 3 years back. The fuse box and complete lead from alternator to fusebox were about £50 in total, and it took me an hour to remove the old parts and fit the new ones.
