When I got my car flushed a couple of weeks ago it got rid of that yellow foamy crap out of my water tank and it's been fine, but today when I got in my car to go to work the coolant light came on, I checked the water and it did need some in and also there was a little bit of gunk round the cap again. The water was ok though, just a few tiny bits of rust, guessing from the radiator when I had it flushed. The mechanic is convinced it's not the head gasket but cant explain the gunk.

Can just a water leak create some crap if the water isn't circulating properly? Or maybe a dodgy thermostat or water pump? Everything else is fine, oil ok, heaters work, not overheating. I don't know what to do :(

i would get a compression test, oil into the water isnt a good sign if you ask me :( your mechanic might think the head gasket is ok but i would still get the test to rule it out

You can lead a fool to wisdom - But you can't make him think

If u do a lot of short journeys start n stop not letting the engine warm right up this can cause the yellow gunk. I would defiantly get a compression test done tho, don't just go of some one guessing.

I Had the test done when it first happened, he had it all day, I do do short journeys quite alot tho, do you think it needs a blast down the motorway?
