Hi all,

I have recently bought a cougar and have a few q's....

Car = 2.5 V6 Cougar, 62k, 2001.

1) When cold the rev's seem to 'hang' a little inbetween gear changes....or whenever the clutch is dipped. The process is as follows:- I dip my clutch, the revs surge to 1900rpm for 1sec aprox and then they fall down to normal. Its a very minor thing and I've only really just noticed it. Is it normal??

2) I checked my coolant levels today and it seemed a little low...where should i look for leaks? It may not be a leak, just a low level for some reason, but i want to check anyway.

I think thats it for now...

Thanks all

Andy

1) Not sure. Sticking UIM mech? Throttle body/cable not releasing?

2) Anywhere that any other car would lose coolant. Header cap seal, pipe joins, leaking/holed radiator, water pump seal, head gasket. Top it off and look for white crystalline deposits anywhere there might be a break. After a run, let it cool down and sniff the header tank for exhaust gas smells.

::EDIT:: Oops sorry - old thread.

1) do a forum search for "throttle hang", you'll get plenty of answers and solutions.

2) The coolant level will go up and down depending on engine temperature. If it's above the minimum line, don't worry.
