Hi all,
Am looking to buy 2 tyres for the front on adiesel Mondeo.

Have found a good price on Goodyear Efficient grip tyres, Any body had them on there car? What are they like or perhaps recommend something else?

Its got Uniroyal Rainexperts on at the moment. Good but noisey!!

stay away from toyo good in the dry but rubbish in the wet i find it hit and miss with goodyear 1 tyre range could be great yet another rubbish. all i can say you get what you pay for,but the uniroyal rain tyres are hard to beat wet tyres for the price range

I have two Goodyear Efficient Grips on the front (Although have "winter" tyres on atm). I don't like them, ride is harsher than the P6000's I had on, took ages to wear in, even though they appear to be wearing quickly. I havent noticed any increase in mpg but have noticed loss of grip which is probably why I am getting high wear compared to last tyres.
Definatly pay a bit more and get something else.

I know they are expensive but I have nothing but praise for Michelin Pilot sport 2. Good grip and ride quality and seem to last a good few thousand miles longer than I have seen with other brands. You get that your pay for

If you plan on keeping your car for a couple of years or so then I'd invest in Michelin Pilot sport 2. Otherwise the Hankook V12 evo or vredestein sessanta are great mid budget tyres.

If you are dead-set on GY, get Optigrip instead of Efficient grip.....same money, bettrt tyre.
Other that that, I am (always) for Continentals.

Would need to agree with the above post, the Kumho Ecsta sports are great tyres, I had a set on the Mazda 6 sport

I have a pair of Nankang NS2 directionals on my ST24, and I know a guy who has 4 of them on his GT Falcon, and for a averagely priced Chinese made tyre, they're not half bad, even in the wet. Which is saying something after coming off Dunlop Direzza DZ101 sport tyres, and they're hard to beat for wet and dry grip, but at 100 quid a corner, they're not cheap

I had a set of goodyear eagle f1's on my tdci 225/40/zr18 and they were good in the dry but crap in the wet,lots of wheel spin in first and second gear and i swapped fronts to rears and visa versa when they were half worn and still only managed 13,000 miles when i had to change all 4.I done some research and put a set of avon zz3's on a year ago and have now only covered 7,000 miles but there isnt any sign of wear yet and are good in dry and wet conditions,no road noise either.

I used to run NS2's on my MkIII Zetec S Estate when I had it a few years ago. They were only £65.00 a corner then!! I would only run budget tyres on that car because it used to eat front tyres every 12 -13000 miles religously. i did try Kumho at one point but they were absolutly awful in the wet.
I now run Uniroyal Rainsport 2's on my MkIV Zetec Estate. They seem to be lasting better, but this car is not as hard on the tyres as the MkIII.
I ran Avons on the Passat that I had between the Mondies. they were a nice tyre too.

If you can afford them then michelins all the way ! What size are you running on ? There's different patterns depending on low profiles and such
