jus bought a mk2 zetec s in dark aubergine(i think thats what its called)
anyways, the previous owner has tried to cover up a few bubbles and tried to colour code the door handles,
(with no success), and managed to get paint and primer all over the doors, bonnet and rear arches.

is there anyway of sorting this out or is it just a case of having to live with it?

• Hi t cut should take it off or if it's really bad farecla rubbing compound G3 or similar will take the overspray off.

As above, T cut will most likely be the cheapest or I've used Megs M105 on my brothers botched Punto and removed it in one pass.

Then a good polish and it will shine.

Meguires ultimate compound.......great stuff....its alot less abrasive than T-Cut.

Hit it with some Farecla G3 or G6 Rapid and then go over it with G10 Finisher to remove the swirls and polish up to a shine

If its really bad, rub it with some 2000 grade wet sand paper then follow up with compounds (make sure you wet the paper and the area you're rubbing, but don't rub too hard...)

the car is state blue metallic, do i get neutral, blue or purple t cut?

T cut will be hard work, use some G3 farecla which is readily available and will do the job quicker.

A clay bar will also remove overspray,i use a trade clay bar by autosmart but meguires do a clay bar kit at halfords i believe!!!

Dark blues, reds and greens show up and make swirls like dogs nuts. Make sure you use some finishing compound afterwards after using G3 compound

If it is a metallic colour it will have a lacquer top coat so you don't have to worry about any specific colour of T-cut.

As above, I would recomend using G3 and give it a good machine polish. This will also get rid of any small scratches that are there. Wet the head of the polisher and give the car a good going over. Make sure to keep the head wet though or else you'll burn into your paint work. That will shift the over spray. Afterwards you might want to give it a good coat of polish.

Paint thinners will remove the overspray if you are careful with it, but dont use it on any plastic trim.

Thinners? That's a little bit harsh don't you think? The only time I use thinners on paintwork is when I'm blending out a section, and usually there's a little bit of clear coat in the gun as well.

I have used it with success, but we are talking just a small amount on a cloth, and not washing a pannel in the stuff
You could also try isopropyl alcohol, which you will be able to buy from the chemists or nail varnish remover, but be cautious when applying because they are very strong, and just use a small amount on a cloth, and never leave the cloth on your cars paint after you have finished using it.

It may only be very light overspray, my advice to you is try something with a very low abrasive property, then if you are able to remove it you`ll have less work in the long run removing any scratches with the use of coarse compounds just my opinion mate, hope it helps you.
