Hi again guys.

Just wondering how do you know if this has the start stop system as I test drove ours that we are picking up next week felt like it didnt have it on the KA even though in the advert it said it did.

I've test drove a Honda CR-Z a while back and that had start stop on it and noticed it go quiet at stand still.

Do you's reckon theres like a button or something in the menu? I've looked briefly but couldnt see anything and the vauxhall dealer we're getting it from didnt have a clue.

any ideas? cheers

It should stop the engine when stationary, and then restart as you press the accelerator?

I've had my KA for a month now from new.  Can anyone tell me when this start stop function is supposed to work?  It has only 'worked' for me on one round trip from Wigan to Preston.  Then the engine turned off & without any interference from my self it turned itself back on after exactly 40 seconds which I thought odd ( & this isn't mentioned in the handbook).  Since then it hasn't worked at all even though it meets all the 'criteria' - aircon off, outside temp ok, gears in neutral, handbrake on, foot off clutch, wipers off etc etc.  I already have to take the car back AGAIN because the remote key fob doesn't work.  Not hugely impressed so far with my first ever ford!

we know how the start stop works..but have tried all sorts to get it to work..even with nothing on like the radio heater etc..I believe theres some issues with either the battery being not powerful enough ie. not enough power, clutch issue or neutral gearbox sensor..

will be going to a ford dealer as we are back up north now..then see

Bought 14 mile, 2011 pre reg Titanium petrol ," traded 2010 diesel. loads of things wrong with this car." did not realise stop start didnt work for ages, dash info saying stop/start not connected. There is a button on the dash to select or not, and only works when engine is at operating temperature, disconnects when selecting reverse, and always defaults to stop start mode, you can switch it off with dash switch. My hand book has no info on this system at all, very strange. anyway booked into ford dealer and was"fixed" now works, when i asked what the problem was they said the battery was not fully charged, seems strange on a newish car, could be problems if you do not use car much?

Mine now works intermittently on the whole.  Took it into garage & was told exactly the same as other people.  The battery was not fully charged - on a brand new car!!  The bloke told me it was a common problem in the KA & they've tried to tell ford that they need to put more powerful batteries in but no luck.  They did have a customer who fought ford on this issue & won!!
Mine has been working ok but didn't today & car was at optimum.
To be honest if I could trade it in tomorrow I would but unfortunately I bought it on their finance. So disappointed in the whole vehicle.  The mpg is rubbish, the seat belt cuts into my neck, the radio is to far away for me to reach it safely(I'm 5'3" so not particularly short!!) , the car is slow in low gears. My Seat Ibiza was so much better on so many levels - apart from the heater & windscreen, oh & the colour!!! :(

Must say not that good a car! would agree with all the above comments . poor mpg, radio to far away and i am 6' to slow. good points on my titanium, climate, nice looking wheels and roof spoiler that cost me silly money for fitting and paint.

I've had my petrol Ka since November. I get about 50-54mpg, which I'm quite happy with. I use it for work so putting on about 220 miles a week onto it.
The start stop works well on it although certain times it doesn't stop. I put that down to various things, lights on etc. It does start itself back up when sitting for a while under the same circumstances as above.
Although in saying that I'm finding that recently it doesn't want to start up again! I can have it back in gear and handbrake off before it starts up again. Something that it may go back for if it gets worse. Probably be told theres nothing wrong with it like I was told with a bluetooth problem, even although the problem stopped once they had looked at it!
