Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had the following problems with their Mondeo. Mine started to run poorly with heavy black smoke when accelerating and while running grey smoke was showing in car headlights behind,fuel economy has gone down to 36 around town. I have had the flashing glow plug light and limp mode happen twice. Since then I have had the EGR valve, manifold and MAF sensor cleaned and checked and the actuator arm checked for sticking as when diagnostic done, Turbo Boost Pressure-min-max mechanical came up.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Take the pipe below the EGR valve off and check it for splits. They can sometimes be seen with the pipe in situ and often have a deposit of oily gunge where they have split.

Two jubilee clips one top and bottom to get it off.

Forgot to say it is a 55 plate 115bhp with 93K regularly serviced

Checked the hose and seems ok but will replace to be on safe side, any other ideas?

Did you take the pipe off to check it? At £50 + for one I would make sure it was split before replacing it.

Try blanking the egr valve with a temporary plate to see if that helps. then you can decide to replace or whatever if it cures it.

Would there be any problems if the egr valve was blanked off?
