hi, my gf's ka she brought two days ago.
and when she trys to start her car she either has two outcomes

1) it starts but you hear the starter motor just catching

2) doesnt start all you hear is the starter motor spin!. however if it does this we turn the car off then press the clutch down and then start it and it starts absoloutly fine.


please can some one help.....

sounds a bit like a sticking starter motor, if you can get at it, put a block of wood on the casing and clout it (the wood!) with a hammer, sometimes this will encourage it to free off, if not its a new starter, i'm afraid.

could it be the flywheel??

the starter ring gear has the potential to come off the flywheel. but its fairly rare. you might be able to see whats going on by removing the starter motor ans rocking the car in 1st gear on the flat.
