Mondeo Mk4 Zetec - wheel options

Quick question i currently have the standard 16" alloys fitted to mine -

Have the option to fit 18" st focus alloys - tyres 225 - 40 - 18

I know the PCD is the same - but the offset seems to be diffrent - will this have a big effect on the handling ?

How different are the off-sets?
