Hi,
hoping someone out there can help.
I started having trouble with my turbo a few weeks ago - was quoted some rather absurb numbers to refurbish.
Spotted a turbo on Ebay - mailed the seller with my reg and susequently bought it.
First trip to the garage to have the turbo fitted drove it home - since rush hour noticed no issues.
Next day started up and was struggling for power (under 2000rpm ) - engine management system lights came on too.......back to the garage to be told code P0235 but they did not have time to look being it was a saturday.
Took the car back in on the tuesday - diagnosed as the following:
"Fault located to multiplug connection block on new supplied turbo unit, multiplug connector is incompatible with original fitment"
I've tried a turbo specialist who reckons its actuator calibration......and it a turbo that's been altered
I really have no clue how to proceed - the specialist will change for a new one - about £900 (and take the old turbo off my hands in the deal) but I've already burnt £700 on this??
2 non-working turbos
HELP!!!!

Incompatible? How did they fit it then?
What car is this for, I'm assuming a diesel, is it a Mk1 or Mk2?

Sadly thats a problem with supplying a garage/mechanic with your own parts. Doubles the labout costs which you are unlikely
to get back.
If it drove home fine how is it incompatible? Shouldnt they have noticed the plug didnt fit or was wrong? OK they may have spotted that
after doing all the work but it drove home...
Need a bit more info on what is actually incompatible. Need more info.

By reading the original post i would think that he drove the car home but it was rush hour so was traveling slowly stop start and didn't get to put his foot down and get up to 2000 rpm hence the reason he didn't notice it until the next day.
Where did you by the new turbo from?? Was it from a well known or reputable company.
My neighbour has just had a similar problem, he got the turbo off ebay and it turned out it was a cheap Jap shite one. Fitted it and the car would only rev to 2500 and that was it. So we took the new turbo off and put the old one back on and it then reved up as it should so he sent the new turbo back and bought a new genuine garrett one from some where else.

Yeah my neighbour got his off ebay like i said earlier, it turned out it was a garret housing and cheap jap internals. I did warn him when he bought it as it was half the price of one from a reputable company online. But he got his money back when he sent it back, but luckily there were no labour costs involved as we fitted it and removed it.
