Ford Galaxy mk2 2.3 petrol is difficult to start and using excessive fuel, approx 6/7 mpg.
This started  (or i first noticed)  this approx 1 week after it was in the garage for a minor rattle & service due.
Work carried out:
Full service and timing chain tensioner was changed.
Have checked for fuel leaks & nothing.  Been back to garage & asked if it could be he has set up timing wrongly but they say prob fuel injetor fault & not related to the work just done.
Appreciate any help, thanks

Sounds suspiciously like a timing problem to me, you might have to get another garage to diagnose the problem and then claim it back if the continue to deny its even a possibility... :(

Thanks for your advice. Can you think of anything else it could be that a fairly decent diy mechanic could check in order to rule them in or out?  Or any tests to rule timing in or out?
Many thanks

The 2.3 was derived from the sierra and fitted to the Scorpio and Transit so have a rummage around those forums and you may find some more info as I'm not that clued up on the tbh. A great PDF is here:

Scroll down to 58 and it shows where all the timing marks are so you may well be able to get to the chain and see for yourself.

Have you had a diagnostics check?  Is the engine running ok once it is going? Also try changing RELAY 30. That seems to be the MOST common problem with Galaxy's for non starting. It is a digifant relay and can be bought from either VW or Ford and is located on a relay fuse board behind the fusebox under the steering wheel.
