Got myself a Mondeo titanium 2011 recently. According to the brochure, the Sony CD system comes w 9 premium speakers, remote audio controls, etc .... I found 8 speakers (a set of tweeter and woofers in each door). Where is the last one located? Is this the sub?

Any ideas what is the make and specs of the stock speakers?

I'm thinking of replacing the front set with seemingly aftermarket component speakers such as Focal or DLS (no amp though). But I wonder will this really improve the quality? I find the stock speakers not as premium as advertised.

1-8 speakers are in door (hi-low/mid), 9 speaker is subwoofer, look in to the trunk.

Thanks. Any idea what is the brand of the speakers? Will upgrading to the aftermarket ones such as Focal or DLS (without amp) improves the SQ?

I think youre right. Mine is fitted with 9 speakers as well according to Etis and the Ford Dealer. No subwoofer in mine.

I agree with The Artilleryman and PhluX. No sub woofer in boot but pretty certain there is a speaker in the middle of the dash

My 9 speakers are driven by the stock Sony CD HU. I believe the HU has 4 output, each connected to a set of tweet and woofer. How then is the 9th in-dash speaker connected?

Like the subwoofer would be connected? ;)
I will have a listen to that middle dash-speaker-thing and see if it outputs music or not and report back :)

Well, I have just had a listen... I can not positively say, that there is a speaker in the middle of the dash. If I should guess, or make my best judgement from listening, I would say that there is no speaker in the middle dash.

I can say for sure though, that there is no subwoofer in my cars boot, so if the 9th. speaker is not in the middle dash and is not the subwoofer, where is it then?

Here is what ETIS says:

Please help clarify, I find this strange and love a good mystery :)

This is what was advertised in our dealer's website down in Singapore -

"Provides concert-quality sound within you car with 9 speakers including a dashboard-mounted subwoofer. The aux-in USB port lets you connect up your iPod, MP3 player or USB stick and take your music collection with you while you are driving"

So I guess it is indeed a subwoofer.
