Looking for an upgrade and quite fancy this.
Anyone know what these are like? will it be ok for my car?,
What will be involved in the fitting?, i want to keep the steering controls as stated, but i'm guessing will need a connection for it.

Thats look good, im sure there is a connection on ebay too that will keep your steering controls working, there is connections for everything else.

I noticed they are in leeds which is close to me so i could have had a nosey but they dont seem to have any contact address like alot of the shops on ebay do.

I like the look of that, but would really want any upgraded head unit to have GPS to, otherwise the upgrade isn't enough of a step up IMHO.

It looks very cool and it was the sort of thing i was talking about!

i have seen ones very similar to this with an optional extra-cost module with GPS sat-nav

the tv is analogue - some of the others had digital tv recievers (but were more expensive)

remember it is a preamp only- power amps are required
Was my answer useful ? - please press "thanks" : )

Can you explain more about the pre amp part of your post?

My current head unit is the bog standard Ford 6000 model, and there are no extra bits and bobs added to my sound system. Are you saying I would need to fit an amp in order to use one of the HU's above?

yes - you cannot connect speakers directly to the unit- it is a pre amp only and you will require seperate amp/ amps

they managed to cram a lot of stuff in there - there may have not been enough space for power amps plus the problems with heat and of course the cost saving

I use an F6000 model - it looks very "ordinary" (important to not getting nicked and running a "sleeper" car- i got a fake "dummy front"- it looked better than the Ford hu! ) - the sound is very good,(i used to be a sound engineer in a recording studio etc ) and the steering wheel remote works on it - on top of that i have a parrot fully-fitted hands-free kit (had to get a special loom) so i never changed it

i looked at similar units for my self/ car and you have to look carefully to notice you can't connect speakers directly

on the other hand (some) amps are not expensive and you can choose one for your needs (eg-  regular or monster power etc)

I think I need to come back to this in the morning when I'm more awake!

At the moment I can't get past the idea of a 'fake dummy front' lol...............Why didn't you just buy a genuine dummy front :stir: :whistling:

could'nt find a genuine dummy front so had to choose between a fake genuine or fake dummy front!

was thinking of ditching or moving the cd/radio and fitting a set of gauges under the genuine fake dummy front

"taxi" (the movie) style

Thanks for the heads up on the amp, didn't know about that, I thought the main wiring loom carried the speaker wires/connection.

Not after big sound (done all that in my 20s) so happy to use my orginal speakers, just want a change of head unit.
Must learn to read the description more.....you could have just saved me some money
