Now in a B but my last one was an F*.
That explains why my bike premium dropped by £200 (or 65%) when we moved.

I moved from a "C" with a garage, to an "E" without, and got a refund!
That was for an '88 1.3 Escort Pop though!
Moved from an "A" area (drive), to centre of B'ham (garage) "Refer" with my RS2000, and the premium went from £1,200 to £2,400!
I think part of the thing is though that we all drive Mondeo's, which generally speaking have good standard security (don't want to tempt fate), so the theft risk (which is what the above categories relate to) is reduced. Most Mondy's, other than the V6 ones have pretty low insurance.
The wife's '93 318 is gp 14 and is NOT fast, fun, but NOT fast. A Mk1 2.0 Si, which is quick and fun is only gp 11.

Insurance companys make it up as they go along. My mate has been offered a cavvy sri, and was quoted 709.99. And i was bored so the only details i changed was the name, from his to mine, and the premium went up by 30 quid! Assholes...

And i just got a quote there for my mondy now. Live in a DD3 now, but before that was just up the road a bit, but different area.
Anyway, where i am now was quoted 670.99
Where i used to live...917.99
Like i says, both are DD3, about 1/4 mile apart... Band D
And another quote of a DD5 which is band A, 715.00
Just make it up as they go along...

I've always used quoteline direct to do my insurance and it's always been reasonable. This years premium was £342 for my N reg 2.0 mondeo, just swapped it for an S reg 1.8 TD estate though and had to pay another £45 to transfer the insurance over and I'm in a F area plus I got a SP30 this year to boot so I think it's worth shopping around for your quote.

I'm in an F area (OL2) £360 tpft on a mk1 verona aint that bad. 3 yrs n/c and no accidents or convictions at 28. I moved up the road for 6 months a while ago and got a nice little refund (the only difference is that it was on a drive) when it came to changing back I only had to pay the admin fees coz I was nearly up for renewal. still ended up better off though. I thought Confused.com was good, I've used them for the past couple of years.

How about the figures for Northern Ireland (ie BT). When I lived in England and moved from Woodford Green (E*) according to the info here to Sutton Courteny in Oxfordshire (A) they tried to charge me extra for the car insurance. I argued and they did not charge me, but they did not refund me anything either for moving to a lower risk area.

I moved half a mile down the road to a new place with a garage within the same TS5 post code and my insurance went up £80!
The whole thing seems rather pointless to me, TS5 covers a hell of a big area from shoddy council estates to £500000+ houses.
