As well as my mondeo TDCI we also have a fusion 1.4 TDCI which I think has a Peugeot engine. It has developed a loud tapping coming from the top end (a bit louder than a noisy tappet) anyone got any idea what it might be? Its also a bit smelly in the cockpit when driving...diesel exhaust fumes? Thanks Stephen

Hi They used the same engines in the Peuget and Citreon also use them. Ford teamed up with them to develop the engine.

As for your noise, it could be a broken rocker arm. I have just replaced mine along with timing belt.

Not a job for faint hearted., I am trying to find out the correct timing for my fusion 1.4 TDci does anyone know how to re align timing or know where timing marks are ?
