As per the 'mechanical thread in this section...
I'm sure theres a number of peeps here who know what interior, bodywork, and styling bits are common between these two different Ford models (and perhaps the Probe comonality too). e.g. wheels, seats, fixtures & fittings, elecrtical bits (dash) etc.
The aim of this thread is for the benefit of those who don't, highlighting potential modifications and/or help with alternitive parts replacement :L

I have a Mondeo - Cougar compatibility question...
I really like the seats in a Cougar and wonder if the front seats would fit a Mk1 Mondeo hatcback, And, if the rear seats of a Cougar could, with little modification, fit in that Mondeo too.

rear seats wont fit, and i dont think the fronts do (and they are 2-door tilt seats so would look odd even if they do fit)

Like Percy said the fronts would look odd as they tilt forward , also they sit a lot closer to the floor than the mondeo ones so im not sure if you could remount the seats to the mondeo seat runners , but that would look gay . The backs wont fit either due to the fact there only 2 seats and are made to fit as low and as wide as the floor pan , you would end up with gaps around the seats and to be honest they wouldnt fit unless you made your own mounting points .
Dash well anything is possible if you have the know how .It might well fit direct im not sure on that , it would look good though if it could be done :}

making the dash clocks and general dash elecs work would be the awkward part.

hi
i'm needing to change the clutch on my cougar and am looking at getting an uprated item, and was wondering if any of the performance clutches advertised as Mondeo ST24, ST200 or ST220 would fit as performance clutches for the V6 Cougar are very limited
thanks

ST24 and ST200 performance clutches will fit as the engine and gearbox are the same - those for the ST220 won't - that car (Mk 3 Mondeo chassis) had the 3.0l Duratec, not the 2.5 V6 Duratec 'enjoyed' by the Cougar.
There was a fabled ST200 version of the Cougar built here in Germany (all were assembled here at the Cologne Ford plant using US-manufactured parts) but trying to find one is like looking for the holy grail - some may have made it to dealers, but the Cougar was cancelled before it became commonly available.
You can 'make' an ST200 Cougar with the engine and drivetrain from a donor ST200 if you wanted to and even upgrade the engine to a newer 3.0l Duratec (company in Salisbury specialises in those) if you really wanted to spend the fat end of £8k on the job.

Or you can bolt on the ST200 bits to your V6 (Upper and lower inlet manifolds, throttle body, airbox, injectors and ecu) as it's the same engine as in the Mondeo.
Just be aware though that the earlier Cougar has the Mk2 Mondeo V6 and the later facelifted Cougar has the Mk3 Mondeo version (smaller displacement)

thanks for that guys - appreciated
a couple more questions.....
the ST220 engine & 'box - is it a simple drop-in into the Cougar or are here major differences that would complicate things
also, I'm looking at 5 stud ford alloys and feel better using the hubs of the Mk3 Mondeo - the front is straight forward enough (I believe) but with the rear could I get something THIS or should i get the full 'unit'
Many thanks
Alex

Just a quick point to add - The Cougar had nothing to do with the Probe and is a common mistake made!
