A mates Girlfriends Puma is acting strangly. It is hovering a little too high on the Revs at idle and when in Motion, when the clutch is pressed (changing Gear etc.) it revs up to and over 4k RPM. I have suggested the Idle COntrol Valve sticking. Does this sound right to anyone?

I would have said idle control valve too mate at a guess. The one on our Focus is a little suspect as its a bit erratic on tickover. Not enough to be a problem, but annoying nonetheless.

Any idea where it is located? I can't take a look at the engine personally, but if I can tell my mate where it is roughtly he can have a look himself.

I doubt this is an expensive fix.

I was told that on our Focus its behind the accellerator pedal, but im not sure how true this is. If it is this thats at fault i cant see it costing much either. I hope its a simple fix and it gets sorted ok. :L

Try the throttle position sensor
